Our Youth
Each year more than 600 youth age-out of the foster care system in the San Francisco Bay Area at the age of 18. By the time they leave the system, many of these youth have lived in multiple homes. Most are thrust into unsupported, independent living without a high school education, money, employment, job prospects or a stable living situation.
BAYC's clients are transition aged youth between the ages of 15 and 24. Most are current or former foster youth. Others have been homeless or are at significant risk of homelessness. All have been impacted by violence, neglect, poverty, incarceration, mental illness and/or substance abuse. |
